Our approach to ethics

Interview Helper is an AI tool that helps people get ready for and perform in job interviews. A tool like this can be used well or badly, so we want to be clear about what we built it for, what we expect from the people who use it, and where we stand on the harder questions.
1. What Interview Helper is for
We build Interview Helper to help candidates prepare, think more clearly, and communicate their real experience well — the same goal as a mock interview with a friend, a coach, or a prep book. The point is to help you show what you can genuinely do, not to manufacture an ability you do not have.
2. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for how and where you use Interview Helper. Different interviews, tests, and employers have different rules, and those rules come first.
- Follow the rules of any interview, assessment, exam, or platform you take part in, including any rules about outside assistance.
- Do not use Interview Helper — or any tool — in settings where outside help is prohibited, such as proctored exams, certification tests, or interviews that ask you not to use AI or notes.
- Do not use it to misrepresent your skills, experience, or identity.
- If you are unsure whether a tool is allowed, ask the interviewer or employer first — or do not use it.
3. Hiring integrity and transparency
We think hiring works best when it reflects a candidate's real ability and when both sides are honest. We design for preparation and genuine support, not deception. We do not build features whose purpose is to hide that a tool is being used or to defeat an interviewer's or proctor's ability to detect assistance, and we do not market the product as a way to cheat. Where a setting allows assistance, using it openly is fine; where it does not, the responsible choice is not to use it.
4. An honest word on a contested topic
Where AI belongs in interviews is genuinely debated. Some people see practising and getting feedback from AI as no different from working with a coach; others worry it shades into doing the work for the candidate, and a growing number of employers now ask candidates not to use AI during interviews. Reasonable people disagree, and the norms are still settling.
Our line is to help you prepare and improve, not to help you deceive. We would rather be useful to someone getting ready than to someone trying to get around the rules, and we will keep revisiting where this line should sit as expectations change.
